NYSE EURONEXT (NYX): NYX Stock Message Board Manipulation

Many have noticed a flood of suspicious message board comments on the popular finance message boards. Some are insisting that hedge funds and analysts are saturating message boards with false or misleading information. An indication that this may be going on is the unusual amounts of posts from screen names that were recently made or screen names that were all created on the same day. However, the manipulation is not limited to the two. Recently, on the most popularNYX message boards, somebody has been accused of being connected to the popular cable tv show "Fast Money". The unidentified person has made a series of predictions which have been suspiciously correct. Especially a prediction made about what would be discussed on a yet to be aired show.Either the person is an insider or they want people to believe that they are an insider. Other suspicious activity has popped up on theNymex message boards as well. This wouldn't be the first time that insiders have tried to infiltrate public opinion dishonestly. Earlier this year a Whole Foods executive was caught red handed spreading rumors on Yahoo Message boards. Beware of rumors and so called insider tips it is both against the law and can lose you money. This plague ofNYX manipulation is sure to continue so keep a keen eye out.

However, could this be a sign of something big to come? Some people are saying that analysts are scrambling to cover NYX and are desperately trying to get a better position before everybody jumps on board. That may be part of the reason why we are seeing an increase in the volume of suspicious comments (many posted by newly created screen names).

While motives for this activity are unclear it seems that most people are already spotting these attempts to control the dialogue on message boards and are addressing it appropriately by warning others.
